Game to Resume on Monday

The Eagle Pass Eagles mentored by head coach Tom Gonzalez returned to the friendly confirms of the Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium on Saturday, September 24, 2016 to tangle with the Laredo LBJ Wolves in a 7:00 PM District 29-6A encounter.  This game was also designated as the Eagles Parent’s night with the Eagles varsity football players paying tribute to their respective parents during pregame festivities.

With 3:09 remaining in the third quarter the Eagles leading 21 to 18 the game was forced to a 30 minute Lightning Delay. After a second 30 minute lightning delay the game was called to be resumed on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 600 PM with the Eagles having possession at their own 23 yard line.

Coming off their dominating victory over the Mission Eagles last Friday night, the C.C. Winn Mavericks varsity football team under the direction of head football coach Eric Villasenor culminated their non-district portion of their schedule on coming Friday, September 23, 2016 when they hosted the perennially tough San Antonio Central Catholic Buttons in a 7:30 PM non-district gridiron encounter at the Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium.  The Central Catholic Buttons came into this game sporting an overall season record of 2-2 while the home standing Mavericks ventured in with a 3-1 mark.  The home standing Mavericks scored by land and through the airway to defeat the visiting Buttons 27 to 14. Improve season record to 4-1 Best start in their 11 year history!

Fresh off their dominating victory over the Mission Eagles last Friday night, the C.C. Winn Mavericks varsity football team under the direction of head football coach Eric Villasenor will culminate their non-district portion of their schedule this coming Friday, September 23, 2016 when they entertain the perennially tough San Antonio Central Catholic Buttons in a 7:30 PM non-district gridiron encounter at the Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium.  The Central Catholic Buttons will come into this game sporting an overall season record of 2-2 but those two losses were by a combined total of 10 points while 6the home standing Mavericks will venture in with a 3-1 mark.

Winn Mavericks last Friday had a short week to prepare for their District 29-6A opening matchup against the Laredo Alexander Panthers on Thursday, September 15, 2016 in a 7:30 PM gridiron encounter at the Laredo United Student Activity Center.  The home standing Laredo Alexander Bulldogs entered with a winless 0-3 mark while the visiting Eagle Pass Eagles ventured in sporting an overall season record of 2-1.  The home standing Laredo Alexander Bulldogs stunned the visiting Eagles notching their first victory of the season by the final score of 42 to 16 over the Eagle Pass Eagles.

The C.C. Winn Mavericks’ varsity football team returned to the friendly confines of the Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium on Friday, September 16, 2016 to host the Mission Eagles in a 7:30 PM non-district gridiron encounter.  The home standing Mavericks under the direction of head coach Eric Villasenor ventured into this matchup sporting an overall season record of 2-1 while the visiting Mission Eagles mentored by their head coach and former NFL quarterback Koy Detmer came in with an overall season mark of 1-2.  The mighty Mavericks return to the win column with a sound 27 to 7 defeat of the Mission Eagles.
