The Eagle Pass Eagles varsity football team under the leadership of head football coach Tom Gonzalez will resume their 2019 high school football schedule on Friday, September 6, 2019 when they entertain the San Antonio Southwest Dragons in a 7:00 PM non-district gridiron matchup at the Eagle Pass ISD Student Activity Center Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium. This game has been designated as Parents night with the Eagles players honoring their parents during pre-game festivities.

The C.C. Winn Mavericks varsity football team under the leadership of head football coach Eric Villasenor inaugurated their 2019 Texas High School football season on Friday, August 30, 2019 when they entertained the Crystal City Javelinas in a 7:30 PM non-district gridiron matchup at the Eagle Pass ISD Student Activity Center Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium in a game that designated as Parent’s night with the Mavericks players honoring their respective parent(s) during pregame festivities. This game marked the program’s 14th all-time season opener. The home standing Mavericks unleashed a very formidable running game while the stingy Mavericks nullified three separate potential scoring drives inside the red zone to come away with a dominating 30 to 0 victory over the Javelinas.

The Eagle Pass Eagles varsity football team under the direction of head football coach Tom Gonzalez kicked-off the program’s historic 100th Texas High School all-time football season opener on Thursday, August 29, 2019 when they hosted the Uvalde Coyotes in a 7:00 PM non-district gridiron matchup at the Eagle Pass ISD Student Activity Center Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium. The visiting Uvalde Coyotes prevailed in an overtime heart breaker by the final score of 28 to 27 over the Eagles.

The high powered and highly talented Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old all-stars under the tutelage of manager Eddie Sepulveda and assistant coaches Ramon Salinas Jr. and Manuel Melchor ventured to Bismarck, North Dakota on Thursday, August 8, 2019 to compete in the high caliber 2019 Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old division World Series. The Southwest Regional champion Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old all-stars culminated World Series play finishing as the overall 3rd Place team out of 10 teams in this high caliber tournament and were eliminated in the first game of the single elimination championship round but the local youths received high praise from the tournament directors as well as the local people from Bismarck, North Dakota for their classy style of play, great sportsmanship and for their conduct on and off the playing field and the team was the recipient of the World Series Tournament Sportsmanship Award.

Boys Place 2nd Girls Place 3rd

The perennially highly touted Eagle Pass High School boys and girls cross country teams under the guidance of head coach Juan Gonzalez journeyed to Laredo, Texas on Saturday, August 17, 2019 to compete in the high caliber Border Olympics Cross Country Meet where they went stride for stride against some of top cross country teams from South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley area.

The Eagle Pass Eagles varsity boys finished as the runner-up champion in the overall team competition with a total of 77 points and were led by Diego Davila who placed 8th individually with a time of 17:13 and followed by teammate Noah Gonzalez who crossed the finish line in 14th place individually with a time of 17:28.

In the varsity girls division the Eagle Pass Lady Eagles placed third in the overall team competition with a total of 73 points and were spearheaded by Yanel Garza who finished 7th individually with a time of 20:58 and followed by teammate Jenna Roiz who placed 10th individually with a time of 21:18.

The 2019 Eagle Pass Eagles varsity football team mentored by head coach Tom Gonzalez ventured to Somerset, Texas on Friday, August 16, 2019 to give their Loyal Legion of fans a sneak preview of coming attractions with a 6:30 PM first of two scheduled preseason gridiron scrimmages. The predominately youthful Eagle Pass Eagles who were decimated by graduation last season employed the services of several sophomores in this scrimmage the majority of whom were getting their very first taste of varsity football competition on both sides of the ball. The Eagles prevailed in this first of two scrimmages by the score of four touchdowns to two touchdowns.
