The C.C. Winn Mavericks varsity baseball team under the guidance of head coach Heriberto Roiz and assistant coaches Rene Ramirez, Jesus Gomez, Rolando Salinas, Jr. and Domingo Lopez along with the Eagle Pass Eagles varsity baseball squad under the leadership of head coach Reynol Mendoza and assistant coaches Henry Silva and Chris Villa ventured to Laredo, Texas on Thursday, February 27, 2020 to compete in the elite three day 45 man team Border Olympics Baseball Tournament.

The defending District 29-5A and bi-district champion Eagle Pass Lady Eagles varsity softball team are primed and ready to kickoff their 2020 season opener by competing in the high caliber Smithson Valley Lady Ranger Round Robin Tournament. The Lady Eagles will open play on Friday, February 21, 201-0 with a 9:00 am matchup against Los Fresnos. At 11:00 am they are scheduled to tangle with the Southside Lady Cardinals followed by a 5:00 pm encounter against the tough San Antonio O’Connor Lady Panthers. On Saturday, February 22, 2020 the Lady Eagles will resume tournament action against the tournament’s host team the Smithson Valley Lady Rangers in an 11:00 am contest and will close out their tournament action with a 1:00 pm encounter against the Madison Lady Mavericks.

The 2020 Eagle Pass Lady Eagles varsity girls softball roster will be compiled by Seniors Paola Daniel and Romy Flores, juniors Kaylynne Ruiz, Lashay Reyes, Alyssa Galvan, Bianca Vielma, Iliana Luna, Cristabel Martinez, along with newcomers Priscilla Guerra, Ashley Mendoza, Monserrat Velazco, Ashley Zamago, and Natalie Flores.

Eagle Pass Sports Central wish the 2020 Eagle Pass Lady Eagles the very best of luck at the Smithson Valley Lady Rangers Round Robin Tournament as well as throughout the entire season and invite the Loyal Legion of Lady Eagles followers and the entire community of Eagle Pass, Texas to support the Eagle Pass Lady Eagles varsity softball team. Iracheta, Jr. and assistant coaches Tony Martinez, Johnny Hernandez, Corina Escontrias and Mayda Herrera are armed and ready to inaugurate their respective 2020 varsity softball season which will see the proud Lady Mavericks as one of the favorites to contend for the District 28-5A softball title and make a deep run into the post season as they return a veteran and experienced squad that are solid in all aspects of the game.

The much anticipated and long awaited announcement of the University Interscholastic League new realignment came out of the offices at Region 20 in San Antonio, Texas bright an early on Monday, February 3, 2020. The new realignment saw few if any changes to some of the districts while others did receive some not expected shocking changes which caused the Texas High School head football coaches from Class A to Class 6A to scramble around to complete their respective 2020 non-district portions of their schedule.

Well renowned for being a well coached, well disciplined and aggressive squad that never back down from any challenge, The Mavericks defense closed another memorable year that produced many a number of thrills and memories throughout the entire 2019 season. The opponents knew quite well to expect a very tough battle going up against the Mavericks defense.

Widely known for their notoriety of being a well coached, well disciplined and aggressive squad, that never backs down from any challenge, the Eagles defense closed another banner year in helping to the lead the Eagle Pass Eagles to an overall season record of 7 wins with 5 losses and earned a post season playoff berth. The Eagles stingy, hard hitting and quick pursuing defense was instrumental in the historical bi-district victory over the PSJA Bears holding the explosive Bears scoreless in the entire second half in their stunning 42 unanswered point comeback victory.

The high flying Eagle Pass Eagles varsity football team under the leadership of head football coach Tom Gonzalez fresh off their historic bi-district victory over the PSJA Bears last Friday night hit the road once again on Friday, November 22, 2019 when they journeyed to Laredo, Texas to tangle with the Edinburg Vela Saber Cats in a 7:00 pm gridiron matchup at the Laredo United ISD Student Activity Center for the UIL Region IV Area Round Championship. The Saber Cats entered this Area Round matchup sporting an overall season record of 8-3 while the Eagles ventured in with an overall season mark of 7-4. The Saber Cats utilized a well balanced ball control offense via the airway and through the ground to come away with a 45 to 21 victory over the valiant Eagle Pass Eagles.
