The C.C. Winn Mavericks varsity boys’ basketball squad under the guidance of head coach Paulo Valero and assistant coaches Julio Cumpian, Patrick Sanchez and Eric Ramos continued to wind down their district hard court hoops battles on Friday, February1, 2019 with a road trip down Highway 90 East to Castroville, Texas to tip-off against the Medina Valley Panthers in a 6:300 PM District 28-5A hoops encounter which saw the gutsy and valiant visiting Mavericks hang tough throughout the entire first half of play before wearing down in the second half to eventually fall by the final score of 74 to 47 to the much taller and more athletic Medina Valley Panthers.

Winn Mavericks varsity boys cagers under the leadership of head coach Paulo Valero and assistant coaches Julio Cumpian, Patrick Sanchez and Eric Ramos hosted the district cellar dwelling Uvalde Coyotes on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 in a 6:30 PM District 28-5A basketball hoops encounter at the Eagle Pass ISD Student Activity Center Arena. The home standing Mavericks led by Moe Gaytan who had team high 14 points as well as a team high 14 rebounds defeated the visiting Coyotes by the final score of 55 to 51 to avenge a heart breaking three-point loss at the hands of the Coyotes earlier in the season to improve their district record to 2-10.

This game was designated as Parent’s Night as well as Senior Night with the Lady Eagles honoring their respective parents as well as their two graduating senior class members Brooke Diaz and Mia Garcia.

Iracheta, Jr. and assistant coaches Tony Martinez, Johnny Hernandez, Corina Benavidez and Fred Paniagua who each season just keep getting better and better are geared to kickoff their respective 2019 high school varsity softball season where they will be competing against some new very stiff and quality competition for the 2019 District 28-5A softball title against the likes of the Somerset Lady Bulldogs, the Floresville Lady Jaguars, the San Antonio Southside Lady Cardinals, Uvalde Lobos, the always playoff bound Medina Valley Lady Panthers, the Southwest Legacy Lady Titans, the perennial powerhouse Southwest Lady Dragons and the San Antonio Harlan Lady Hawks.
