The victory propels the mighty Lady Mavericks into the post season for the very first time in school history.

The power hitting and highly talented Eagle Pass Lady Eagles’ varsity girls’ softball team ventured to the Alamo City of San Antonio, Texas on Saturday, February 3, 2018 for a double header scrimmage against Alamo Heights.  The Lady Eagles played flawless defense behind the brilliant and stingy pitching of fire balling Kaitlin Galvan who hurled a No-Hitter in game one and Leenette Krezdorn who tossed a two hit shutout in game two. The highly touted Lady Eagles also put on quite a hitting exhibition in both games with the Lady Eagles winning the first game by the final score of 15 to 0 as well as the second game by the final score of 9 to 0.

The long awaited and much anticipated announcement coming out of Region 20 in San Antonio Texas early Thursday, February 1, 2018 of the UIL 2018-2020 realignment and reclassification news came through the Eagle Pass Sports Central 24 hour sports ticker. Just as predicted by Eagle Pass Sports Central sports writer Conrado Perez, Jr. back in late November , the C.C. Winn Mavericks will now compete in District 14-5A in football only and compete in the Class 5A big school division.  All of the other sports will compete in District 28-5A against the likes of Medina Valley, Floresville, Harlandale, Southside, Harlan, Southwest, Southwest Legacy, Somerset and Uvalde.  The Eagle Pass Eagles will remain in District 29-6A.
