The 2017 C.C. Winn Mavericks varsity football team under the direction of head football coach Eric Villasenor culminated their season venturing into the post season for the second consecutive year.  Although they finished with an overall season record of 3-8 and a district mark of 2-3 it was a season of many ups and downs and close calls as they very easily could have won at least three or four more games including against the top two teams in the district were if not for an inadvertent whistle the Mavericks would have defeated the eventual district champion Southside Cardinals and with a play or two they would have also defeated the runner-up team Floresville Tigers as well.
