Coming off their season opening victory over the Laredo United Lady Longhorns this past Tuesday night, the C.C. Winn Lady Mavericks varsity girls’ softball team mentored by head coach J.J. Iracheta, Jr., and assistant coaches Tony Martinez, Johnny Hernandez, Corina Escontrias and Fred Paniagua ventured to Seguin, Texas on Thursday, February 14, 2019 to compete in the three-day high powered Navarro Lady Panthers Invitational Softball Tournament to be held at the famed Huber Ranch Softball Complex.

Winn Mavericks varsity boys’ basketball squad under the guidance of head coach Paulo Valero and assistant coaches Julio Cumpian, Patrick Sanchez and Eric Ramos continued to wind down their district hard court hoops battles on Friday, February1, 2019 with a road trip down Highway 90 East to Castroville, Texas to tip-off against the Medina Valley Panthers in a 6:300 PM District 28-5A hoops encounter which saw the gutsy and valiant visiting Mavericks hang tough throughout the entire first half of play before wearing down in the second half to eventually fall by the final score of 74 to 47 to the much taller and more athletic Medina Valley Panthers.

Winn Mavericks varsity boys cagers under the leadership of head coach Paulo Valero and assistant coaches Julio Cumpian, Patrick Sanchez and Eric Ramos hosted the district cellar dwelling Uvalde Coyotes on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 in a 6:30 PM District 28-5A basketball hoops encounter at the Eagle Pass ISD Student Activity Center Arena. The home standing Mavericks led by Moe Gaytan who had team high 14 points as well as a team high 14 rebounds defeated the visiting Coyotes by the final score of 55 to 51 to avenge a heart breaking three-point loss at the hands of the Coyotes earlier in the season to improve their district record to 2-10.
