The high powered Eagle Pass Lady Eagles varsity girls softball team entertained the Laredo LBJ Lady Wolves in a 7:30 PM District 29-6A softball diamond encounter at the Eagle Pass ISD Student Activity Center softball field on Friday, March 8, 2019 with the ever present Loyal Legion of Lady Eagles softball faithful in attendance ready to support their beloved Lady Eagles with ace pitcher Kaitlin Galvan entrusted with the starting pitching duty.


The home standing Lady Eagles settled the eventual outcome of this contest with a huge 11 run production in the bottom half of the very first inning with table setter Leslie Martinez leading off the frame drawing a walk and immediately stealing second, powering hitting standout catcher Brooke Diaz followed by blasting a two run homerun to give the Lady Eagles the lead for good, with one out Lorelei Morales was hit by a pitch and quickly managed to steal second and third respectively, Kaylynne Ruiz connected with an RBI double to bring home Lorelei Morales, Lashay Reye came through with a solid RBI single to drive in Kaylynne Ruiz, the swift running Lashay Reyes promptly stole second. Alyssa Lara stepped up to the plate and launched a two run homerun to tally Lashay Reyes ahead of her, with two outs Kaitlin Galvan kept the rally going with a single, courtesy runner Romy Flores stole second, Leslie Martinez reached on an error with Romy Flores advancing to third on the play, Leslie Martinez and Romy Flores then executed a double steal with Leslie Martinez swiping second and Roy Flores stealing home, Brooke Diaz drew a walk as did Alex Martinez to load the bases, Lorelei Morales followed with a two RBI single to drive in Leslie Martinez and courtesy runner Bianca Vielma, Kaylynne Ruiz drew a walk, Lashay Reyes reached on an error to drive in Alex Martinez and Lorelei would later steal home to give the Lady Eagles a comfortable 11 to 0 lead in this game.

For good measure the Lady Eagles tacked on six more runs in the bottom of the second to bring an early conclusion to this game enforcing the 15-run rule on the visiting Lady Wolves. Lady Eagle stellar pitcher Kaitlin Galvan earned the pitching victory with two dominating complete innings of work inside the circle allowing no runs scattering two harmless hits while striking out four batters and teammate Alyssa Galvan relieved in the third tossing a scoreless frame in the top of the third to secure the lopsided 17 to 0 victory for the mighty Lady Eagles over the Laredo LBJ Lady Wolves.
