The perennially talent laden and highly touted Eagle Pass Lady Eagles varsity girls’ softball program are armed and ready to inaugurate their 26th season in their storied history which has seen them venture into the post season in 20 out of their previous 25 seasons including a current 16 consecutive year run.

Year in and year out, the powerful Eagle Pass Lady Eagles varsity girls’ softball program has been recognized as one of the truly premier high school softball programs in Region IV Class 6A as well as in the entire State of Texas and this year is expected to be no exception. Last season the Lady Eagles defeated McAllen Nikki Rowe in the bi-district round followed that by defeating Edinburg to take the area round title before being eliminated by San Benito in the third round of the UL Region IV Cass 6A playoffs.

The 2019 Eagle Pass Lady Eagles will give their Loyal Legion of fans a preview of coming attractions with four scheduled pre-season scrimmages. The first of which is scheduled for Monday, January 28, 2019 where the Lady Eagles with square off with the C.C. Winn Lady Mavericks at 7:00 PM at the Eagle Pass ISD Student Activity Center softball field. On Saturday, February 2, 2019 they will travel to Castroville, Texas for a 4:30 PM scrimmage against the Medina Valley Lady Panthers. On Wednesday, February 6, 2019 the Lady Eagles will hit the road again for a trip to San Antonio, Texas for a 6:00 PM scrimmage against the tough San Antonio Reagan Lady Rattlers at the N.E.I.S.D. Softball Complex. The fourth and final scrimmage on their schedule will be on Friday, February 8, 2019 when they head back to San Antonio, Texas for a 7:00 PM scrimmage against former district foe the Southwest Lady Dragons.

The potent and highly touted Eagle Pass Lady Eagles will then kickoff their 2019 regular season campaign on Thursday, February 14, 2019 when they venture to Smithson Valley to compete in the three day high powered Annual Smithson Valley Softball Tournament. With South San and Southwest no longer in the district the battle for the district title should be a three horse race between the favorite Eagle Pass Lady Eagles, the Laredo Alexander Lady Bulldogs and the Laredo United Lady Longhorns but you never know anything can happen and anyone can beat anyone on any given night in this district.

Alyssa was a pleasant surprise last year early in the season when pitching for the J.V. team with her cool, pin point accuracy and speed that she brought to the game on a daily basis. She ended up earning a spot at the varsity level and never looked back. By the middle of district play, Kaitlin, Leenette and her were the big one-two-three punch that gave the Lady Eagles the opportunity to advance to Regional Quarterfinals!
