The C.C. Winn Mavericks’ varsity football team mentored by head coach Eric Villasenor journeyed to San Antonio, Texas on Friday, September 29. 2017 to square off against the Central Catholic Buttons in a 7:30 PM non-district encounter at the Bob Benson ‘66’ Football Stadium located on 1403 N. St, Mary’s St.  The home standing Central Catholic Buttons under new head coach Mike Santiago ventured into this matchup with an unblemished 4-0 overall season record and averaging 39.7 points per game while the visiting C.C. A defensive struggle throughout the majority of this game that should have ended as a very low scoring game but a pair of miscues late in the game enabled the Central Catholic Buttons to escape with a 22 to 6 victory over the Mavericks with a truly valiant Mavericks defense that played their hearts out only allowing 16 of those 22 points.
