The C.C. Winn Lady Mavericks’ varsity softball team under the guidance of head coach J.J. Iracheta, Jr. and assistant coaches Tony Martinez, Johnny Hernandez, Corina Escontrias and Mayda Herrera resumed district softball diamond battles by entertaining the Floresville Lady Jaguars in a 5:00 PM District 28-5A softball encounter at the Eagle Pass ISD Student Activity Center softball field on Tuesday, March 3, 2020.

With the ever present famed Maverick Nation in attendance the Lady Mavericks and Lady Jaguars hooked up in a tremendous pitching duel between Floresville’s Jordyn Trevino and C.C. Winn’s standout freshmen hurler Larissa Jacquez who were both very dominant inside the circle

With the game scoreless through six complete innings of play, the visiting Lady Jaguars came to bat in the top half of the seventh inning but Lady Mavericks freshman pitcher Larissa Jacquez struck out the side in order to give her a total of 16 strikeouts in this game.

In the bottom of the seventh Lady Maverick left fielder Ariana Soto led off the frame with a double down the left field foul line, with two outs veteran and reliable third baseman Ana Lopez stepped up to the plate and blasted a fence rattling RBI double to right center to bring home Ariana Soto with the lone and game winning run for the mighty Lady Mavericks as jubilation reigned on the Lady Mavericks side of the field. Freshman Larissa Jacquez out dueled Jordyn Trevino hurling a complete game three hit shutout with a whopping 16 strikeouts to earn the pitching victory.

Eagle Pass Sports Central congratulated the Mavericks on your thrilling victory over Floresville and wishes each of you continued success. Way to Go Lady Mavericks!
