2020 Softball Campaign

The high powered defending bi-district finalist C.C. Winn Lady Mavericks varsity softball team under the direction or head softball Coach J.J. Iracheta, Jr. and assistant coaches Tony Martinez, Johnny Hernandez, Corina Escontrias and Mayda Herrera are armed and ready to inaugurate their respective 2020 varsity softball season which will see the proud Lady Mavericks as one of the favorites to contend for the District 28-5A softball title and make a deep run into the post season as they return a veteran and experienced squad that are solid in all aspects of the game.
Coach J.J. Iracheta, Jr. informed Eagle Pass Sports Central that the 2020 Lady Mavs will carry some experience from a big senior group. Our seniors consist of 1st Team All District and Team MVPs twins Ariana and Briana Soto followed by 2nd Team All Districts Anissa Salazar and Angie Escamilla. Other seniors helping lead the way will be 1B Amy Flores and OF Kaytlyn Amaya. Returning starters will be Juniors Ana Lopez, Thiana Reyes, Mia Uriegas and Ariana Benavidez. Helping at 1B will be Junior Roxy Moreno. New to the team are Freshmen Pitcher Larissa Jacquez and OF Natalia Lopez. As coaches we are excited to see these young ladies work and play hard during the 2020 season. We invite Maverick nation to come out to the ballpark and support their Lady Mavs.
The potent Lady Mavericks have a total of four scrimmages on their agenda prior to opening day the first of which is scheduled for Tuesday, February 4 when the Lady Mavericks tangle with the Eagle Pass Lady Eagles in a 7: 00 PM matchup at the Eagle Pass ISD Student Activity Center softball field. On Saturday February the Lady Mavericks will travel to Laredo, Texas to scrimmage against Laredo Alexander, Laredo Cigrarroa and Laredo United. On Tuesday, February 11 the Lady Mavericks will host the Laredo LBJ Lady Wolves in a 7:00 PM scrimmage. The Lady Mavericks will conclude their scrimmage schedule on Friday, February 14 with a trip to Pearsall, Texas to scrimmage against the Pearsall Lady Mavericks in a 7:00 PM matchup.
The C.C. Winn Lady Mavericks will then open their 2020 softball season on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 with a road trip to Laredo, Texas to square off against the always tough Laredo United Lady Longhorns in a 7:00 PM non-district season softball diamond opener. Eagle Pass Sports Central wish the mighty Lady Mavericks the very best of luck this season and invite the famed Maverick Nation as well as the entire Community of Eagle Pass, Texas to support the C.C. Winn Lady Mavericks.
