New UIL Realignment Announced

The much anticipated and long awaited announcement of the University Interscholastic League new realignment came out of the offices at Region 20 in San Antonio, Texas bright an early on Monday, February 3, 2020. The new realignment saw few if any changes to some of the districts while others did receive some not expected shocking changes which caused the Texas High School head football coaches from Class A to Class 6A to scramble around to complete their respective 2020 non-district portions of their schedule.
On the local front C.C. Winn Mavericks had football coach Eric Vilasenor informed Eagle Pass Sports Central that only in football the Mavericks will be competing in District 14-5A against the likes of Laredo Cigarroa, Laredo Martin, Rio Grande City, San Antonio Southside, San Antonio Southwest and Southwest Legacy for the district title while their non-district schedule will have the Mavericks battling against Crystal City, Uvalde, Eagle Pass High and Jourdanton
In all of the other sports the Mavericks will be competing in District 28-5A against the likes of Medina Valley, Floresville, San Antonio Harlandale, San Antonio McCollum, San Antonio Southside, San Antonio Southwest, and San Antonio Southwest Legacy.

Eagle Pass Eagles head football coach Tom Gonzalez informed Eagle Pass Sports Central that he was clearly not surprised at all by the outcome of the realignment even after hearing the rumors coming from the abundance of Saturday morning coffee quarterback clubs as well as the famed Club de Las Viboras having predicated that the Eagles would be realigned to the San Antonio Northside District. Instead the Eagles will plsy against the same district opponents but it will be in in District 30-6A to tangle with the likes of Del Rio, Laredo Nixon, Laredo Alexander, Laredo LBJ, Laredo United and Laredo United South for the district title. In their non-district schedule the Eagles will face off aginstb San Antonio Southside, San Antonio John Marshall, C.C. Winn, and Marble Falls.
