The District 29-6A co-runner-up champion Eagle Pass Eagles varsity baseball team under the direction of head coach Reynol Mendoza with an overall season record of 20 wins with 11 losses and 1 tie will venture to Laredo, Texas on Friday, May 3, 2019 to open their best two out of three series for the UIL Region IV Class 6A Bi-District series against the McAllen Bulldogs the District 30-6A second representative in a 7:00 PM bi-district series baseball diamond opener at the United ISD Student Activity Center. Game 2 of this best of three series is scheduled for Saturday, May 4, 2019 with a 1:00 PM matchup at Krueger Baseball field and if necessary Game 3 will start 30 minutes after Game 2 also at Krueger Baseball Field.
The Eagles will enter this best two out of three series featuring ace starting pitcher Rey Rey Mendoza who sports a 5-2 pitching record with 72 strikeouts and an E.R.A of 1.32. The rest of the Eagles’ pitching staff is comprised by Sergio Lopez 4-4 including a No-Hitter, Roly Riza 3-1, Edward Mendoza 2-2, Eric Heredia 2-1, David Lopez 1-0, Jacob Ruiz 1-0 and Mikey Perry 1-1.
The Eagles potent lineup is led by Rey Rey Mendoza who has a team and district high .491 batting average and also leads the team and the entire district with a total of 8 homeruns this season followed by CJ Jimenez .375, Orly Garza .345, Edward Mendoza .333, Victor Perry .320, Braulio Rodriguez .288, Isaac Gonzalez .273, Hector Montoya .240 and Jacob Ruiz .234 (*Stats courtesy of MaxPreps)
