Eagle Pass Sports Central is proud to announce that Eagles Pass Eagles graduating senior class football players Moises Rocha #44 and David Kypuros # 25 have been selected to the prestigious all-state 2nd team defense in Class 6A by the Texas Sports Writers Association. Both David Kypuros and Moises Rocha were nominated by Eagle Pass Sports Central’s very own sports editor Conrado Perez, Jr.

During this past season the highly talented Moises Rocha and David Kypuros were two of the top key components of the Eagles standout and famed “Land Sharks” hard hitting, swarming and aggressive defense who were the stingiest defense in District 29-6A and did not allow a single point scored against them during their five home games.

Stellar defensive end Moises Rocha #44 had a truly banner year being selected as District 29-6A’s Most Outstanding Defensive End and gave the opposing teams offensive coordinators long sleepless nights trying to devise a way to try and stop his relentless pass rushing skills as well as preventing his bone rattling tackles. Moises Rocha registered a total of 102 tackles with 34 tackles for a loss recorded a whopping 14.5 QB Sacks had 4 caused fumbles with 2 fumble recoveries had 2 interceptions with 4 blocked passes blocked 1 punt dished out 15 Big Hits and had 1 defensive touchdown.

Standout outside linebacker David Kypuros was selected as District 29-6A’s Defensive Most Valuable Player registering a team high 142 tackles with 24 tackles for a loss recorded 9 QB Sacks caused 5 fumbles with 1 fumble recovery had 2 interceptions with 4 blocked passes blocked 2 punts inflicted 15 Big Hits and tallied 1 defensive touchdown The swift and hard hitting David Kypuros will easily be remembered as one of the top three all-time best linebackers in the storied 99 year history of the Eagle Pass Eagles high school varsity football program. David Kypuros culminated his stellar high school football career by being selected the 2018 Come & Take It Apparel Poll’s South Texas/Rio Grande Valley’s Defensive Player of the Year recipient beating out 2 other defensive players from around South Texas as well as the Rio Grande and Texas Coastal area garnering a whopping total of 91, 845 votes.

Eagle Pass Sports Central congratulates Moises Rocha and David Kypuros on your most outstanding and well deserved honor of being selected to the 2018 Texas Sports Writers Association Class 6A all-state 2nd team defense and we wish each of you the very best of luck in all of your respective future endeavors.
