The Eagle Pass Lady Eagles varsity girls’ basketball team under the direction of head coach Ruben Besa and assistant coaches Arturo Gonzalez, Jesus Juarez and Norman Carreon culminated their 2018-2019 home schedule on Tuesday, January 29, 2018 by hosting the tough Laredo Alexander Lady Bulldogs in a 7:30 PM hard court encounter. This game was designated as Parent’s Night as well as Senior Night with the Lady Eagles honoring their respective parents as well as their two graduating senior class members Brooke Diaz and Mia Garcia.

The valiant undersized home standing Lady Eagles made a valiant effort in the opening period of this contest trading basket for basket against the taller and more athletic visiting Lady Bulldogs getting scoring production from their yearlong leading scorer Paula Hernandez and Brooke Diaz who game in and game out simply dominates the rebounding department for the Lady Eagles who only trailed by one point heading into the second quarter,

Unfortunately the rest of this contest saw the Laredo Alexander Lady Bulldogs manage to outscore the Lady Eagles 44 to 12 to come away with the victory by the final score of 55 to 22. The Lady Eagles were led by Paula Hernandez who poured in a team high 13 points in this game while Brooke Diaz led the Lady Eagles in the rebounding department with a team high 9 boards giving her a whopping total of 471 rebounds in only just her two year high school varsity girls basketball career. Also being honored in this game was standout point guard Paula Hernandez for reaching the magical mark of 1000 points scored and she still has one more year remaining in her high school career.
