Lady Eagles fall to

Southwest Lady Dragons 45 to 23

The Eagle Pass Lady Eagles varsity girls basketball team under the tutelage of head coach Ruben Besa and assistant coaches Arturo Gonzalez, Norman Carreon and Rachel Menchaca took to the hard court on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 where they entertained the San Antonio Southwest Lady Dragons in a 7:30 PM District 29-6A hoops matchup at the Eagle Pass High School gymnasium.

The home standing Lady Eagles started out a little slow in this game but for the lack of effort. They did have several good looks at the basket but their respective shots simply would not go in which enabled the visiting Lady Dragons to race out to a 14 to 1 lead at the end of the opening period and then managed to extend their lead to 25 to 5 at the end of the first half.

The second half of this contest saw the gallant Lady Eagles fight back to match the 18 point total by the Lady Dragons getting scoring production from Sophie Rodriguez, Paola Hernandez and Yoanna Velasquez but their first half deficit proved to be too much to overcome as the Lady Eagles fell by the final score of 45 to 23.
