The C.C. Winn Lady Mavericks varsity girls basketball squad under the leadership of head coach Paulo Valero and assistant coaches Federico Paniagua, Julio Cumpian and Tonya Rosas continued their mini Rodeo Road Trip on Friday, December 7, 2017 journeying to San Antonio, Texas to tip off against the Harlan Lady Hawks in a 6:45PM non-district hoops encounter.

The visiting Lady Mavericks stormed out of the pre-game warm-up ritual red hot as they scorched the nets with 10 points with Gyselle Rangel and Silvy Salazar leading the scoring production.  The Lady Mavericks defense was simply suffocating with their relentless pressure scheme managing to hold the home standing Lady Hawks to only two points in the opening quarter.

In the second quarter of this contest the Lady Mavericks scoring production continued with Ana Lopez, Destiny Sukue, Ashley Cruz and Kim Rodriguez pitching in points to the cause.  The Lady Mavericks defense was quite stingy again as they held the Lady Hawks to only three points in the second period enabling the Lady Mavericks to take a comfortable 26 to 5 into the halftime break.

During the second half of this game the Lady Mavericks got to see plenty of game action and they too produced on both ends of the court.  Lady Mavericks Ruby Estrada and Stela De Leon made their varsity debut in this game and they too contributed to the convincing 49 to 33 victory over the Harlan Lady Hawks.
