Eagles & Lady Eagles compete at
Nike South Invitational

The Eagle Pass High School highly touted boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams under the leadership of head coach Juan Gonzalez ventured to The Woodlands, Texas to compete in the high caliber Nike South Invitational Cross-Country Meet which is one of the premier high school cross country meets not only in the State of Texas but in the entire country as well.
The talented and youthful Eagle Pass Lady Eagles squad spearheaded by their dynamic duo of Shanya Luna and Monica Rivera finished a very respectable 9th in the overall team competition out of 26 teams with a total of 282 points. Spearheading the team was standout Shanya Luna who crossed the finish line in 28th place individually out of 183 runners in the elite varsity girls’ division with a time of 19:35. Stellar teammate Monica Rivera came in 30th individually with a time of 19:36.
The Eagle Pass Eagles varsity boys’ squad finished in 13th place in the overall team competition out of 26 teams in the elite varsity boys’ division with a total of 359 points. Leading the varsity boys’ contingent was standout Nathan Kowalski who came in 13th individually out of 196 runners with a time of 16:02 while teammate Sergio Hernandez was next crossing the finish line in 38th place individually with a time of 16:34
