The District 28-5A co-leading C.C. Winn Lady Mavericks varsity softball team mentored by head coach J.J. Iracheta, Jr., and assistant coaches Tony Martinez, Johnny Hernandez, Corina Escontrias and Mayda Herrera journeyed to Castroville, Texas on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 to square-off against the District 28-5A co-leading Medina Valley Lady Panthers in a 2:00 PM marquee match.

The home standing Lady Panthers took the early lead in this key contest with a three run output on only one base hit but greatly capitalized on three Lady Mavericks’ errors to take a 3 to 0 lead over the Lady Mavericks. Both starting pitchers were pretty dominant inside the circle each of whom allowed just four base hits apiece but the Lady Mavericks uncharacteristically committed seven errors in this game.

The Lady Panthers tacked on a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth courtesy of a two run homerun and then added a lone insurance run in the bottom of the sixth to come away with the 6 to 0 victory over the valiant Lady Mavericks to take sole possession of first place in the district ace.
