Lady Mavericks defeat

Uvalde Lobos 4 to 1

The C.C. Winn Lady Mavericks varsity girls softball team under the guidance of head softball coach J.J. Iracheta, Jr., and assistant coaches Tony Martinez, Johnny Hernandez, Corina Escontrias and Mayda Herrera resumed their district diamond battles on Monday, March 9, 2020 when they hosted the Uvalde Lobos in a 2:00 PM matchup at the Eagle Pass ISD Student Activity Center softball field.

Supported by the famed Maverick Nation in attendance the home standing Lady Mavericks took the early lead n this game with pair of runs in the home half of the third inning with Anissa Salazar belting a one out double, Thiana Reyes came through with an RBI single to drive in Anissa Salazar with the first run of this game, Mia Uriegas followed with an RBI single to bring home Thiana Reyes to give the Lady Mavericks a 2 to 0 lead over the Lobos.

The Lady Mavericks extended their lead with a lone run in the bottom of the fourth with Ana Lopez connecting with a single and eventually coming around to score by stealing home plate.

The Lady Mavericks then proceeded to tack on a lone insurance run in the bottom of the fifth with Thiana Reyes blasting a fence rattling triple, Briana Soto connected with an RBI single to bring home Thiana Reyes giving the Lady Mavericks a 4 to 0 lead over the Lobos..

The Lobos averted the shutout with a solo homerun in the seventh one of only two hits allowed by game winning pitcher Larissa Jacquez who was dominant inside the circle all game long as the Lady Mavericks remain unbeaten in district play.
