Stunningly the Uvalde Coyotes managed to hold Mavericks scoreless in this game as they came away with the 17 to 0 victory over the valiant C.C. Winn Mavericks.

The entire first half of play in this contest proved to be quite a defensive struggle as both defensive units battled each other with a furious and relentless aggression. The Mavericks defense led by linebacker Jared Roiz, linebacker Michael Farris, defensive backs Argenis Gonzalez, Andrew Vasquez and defensive linemen Jose Hinojosa, Isaias Flores, Axel Rodriguez, Alejandro Ontiveros and company held the Uvalde Coyotes diversified offense in check the entire first half of play.

The Uvalde Coyotes managed to tally the only score of the first half courtesy of Coyotes place kicker Miller Carnes who successfully converted a 27 yard field goal with 5:21 remaining in the first half.

During the halftime break Mavericks head football coach along with offensive coordinator Herberto Roiz and co-defensive coordinators Saul Salas and Rene Ramirez simply wore out the chalk board devising new schemes to attempt to get on the scoreboard and keep the Coyotes out of the end zone as well.

Unfortunately Lady Luck was not kind to the proud Mavericks on this night as the home standing Coyotes managed to tally a pair of touchdowns in the second half the first of which was a 15 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Donovan Davila to wide receiver Tanner Bowman with 3:08 showing on the third quarter clock, Miller Carnes tacked on the point after to give the Coyotes a 10 to 0 lead over the Mavericks.

The Coyotes then added an insurance score with a 49 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Donovan Davila to the Coyotes main receiver D’Adnre Carroll with 10:57 left in the game. Miller Carnes tacked to the point after to close out the scoring for the night as the Uvalde Coyotes came away with the heart breaking 17 to 9 victory over the valiant C.C. Winn Mavericks.

The Mavericks will reload their arsenal and continue their non-district gridiron schedule next Friday, September 13, 2019 when they square-off against the cross town Eagle Pass Eagles in the 14th ever matchup between the two local schools. Kickoff time is scheduled for 7:00 PM at the Eagle Pass ISD Student Activity Center Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium. Surprisingly this game did not go according to plan as the home standing Coyotes managed to hold the usually potent Mavericks running game to limited yardage and also managed to keep the Mavericks scoreless as the Coyotes prevailed by the final score of 17 to 0.
