Win 2 @ 13-15 year old World Series

Team Places 3rd at World Series

The high powered and highly talented Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old all-stars under the tutelage of manager Eddie Sepulveda and assistant coaches Ramon Salinas Jr. and Manuel Melchor ventured to Bismarck, North Dakota on Thursday, August 8, 2019 to compete in the high caliber 2019 Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old division World Series. The Southwest Regional champion Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old all-stars culminated World Series play finishing as the overall 3rd Place team out of 10 teams in this high caliber tournament and were eliminated in the first game of the single elimination championship round but the local youths received high praise from the tournament directors as well as the local people from Bismarck, North Dakota for their classy style of play, great sportsmanship and for their conduct on and off the playing field and the team was the recipient of the World Series Tournament Sportsmanship Award.

Individually Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old standout third baseman Eddie Sepulveda #28 received a black and gold bat after being selected to the prestigious All World Series Team. Stellar second baseman Kali Salinas #5 received the Gold Glove being selected to the All-Word Series defensive team. Overall as a team the Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old all-stars had the highest batting average out of the 10 teams that competed at the Babe Ruth 13-15 year old division World Series.

The potent Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 15 year old all-star roster were comprised by Izek Garza #1, Jarod Romero #22, Eddie Sepulveda #28, Omar Salazar #16, Roger Menchaca #32, Manny Melchor #6, Jorge Saucedo #10, Aaron Trevizo #42, Kali Salinas #5, Roli Jimenez #23, Oscar Cavazos #9 and the Bat Boy was Kaleb Salinas.

The Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old all-stars culminated tournament action at the 2019 Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old division World Series with a respectable overall record of 2 wins with 3 losses. Eagle Pass Sports Central congratulates all of these truly talented future Mavericks and Eagles varsity baseball players as well as their entire coaching staff for their outstanding accomplishment at the 2019 Babe Ruth 13-15 year old division World Series and we thank each of you for representing the Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League as well as the entire community of Eagle Pass, Texas with pride, dignity and class and we wish each of you continued success in all of your respective future endeavors. POOL PLAY

GAME 1 Russell County Kentuicky

In their opening round of pool play the Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 15 year old all-stars squared off with Russell County Kentucky squad the Ohio Valley Regional Champions in a 1:00 PM matchup at the Municipal Baseball Park on Thursday, August 8, 2019. The Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old all-stars jumped out to the early lead with a big four run rally in the bottom half of the first inning with Izek Garza leading off the frame with a single, Jarod Romero blasted an RBI triple to bring home Izek Garza with the first run of the game, also scoring runs in that frame were Jarod Romero, Eddie Sepulveda and Omar Salazar.

Ohio Valley countered with a lone run in the top of the third but the Eagle Pass Babe Ruth 13-15 year old all-stars got that run back in the bottom of the third with Eddie Sepulveda belting a fence rattling one out triple, Roger Menchaca drew a walk, Omar Salazar reached on an error which enabled Eddie Sepulveda to score on the play.

In the bottom of the fifth the Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old all-stars put the exclamation point in this game with a three run production with Eddie Sepulveda stroking a two out double, Roger Menchaca stepped up to the plate and blasted a two run homerun way over the left centerfield fence, Omar Salazar followed with a single and scampered over to second on an error, Manny Melchor reached on an error which enabled Omar Salazar to score on the play to give the Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old all-stars a comfortable 8 to 1 lead.

Ohio Valley answered with three runs in the top of the seventh but it was not enough as the Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old all-stars came away with the well earned 8 to 4 victory with Eddie Sepulveda earning the pitching victory and was also selected the Player of the Game.

GAME 2

In their second game of pool play the Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old all-stars hooked up against Columbia Basin, Washington the Pacific Northwest Regional champion in a 1:00 PM diamond matchup on Friday, August 9, 2019, In the top half of the first inning the Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old crew took the early lead with a three run production with Rolly Jimenez, Jarod Romero and Eddie Sepulveda each coming around to score a run in that frame. The Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old squad then tacked on a lone run in the top of the second with Oscar Cavazos tallying on an RBI single off the bat of Rolly Jimenez only to see the Pacific Northwest squad comeback with a three run out put in the bottom of the second to narrow the Eagle Pass lead to 4 to 3.

Pacific Northwest then took a 5 to 4 lead with a two run outburst in the bottom of the third but the mighty Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old all-stars regained the lead with a pair of runs of their own in the top of the fourth with Kali Salinas leading off the frame with a solid double, with one out Rolly Jimenez stroked an RBI double to drive in Kali Salinas, Rolly Jimenez later scored on a wild pitch to give the Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old all-stars a 6 to 5 lead.

In the top of the fifth the Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15yeqrold all-stars broke this game wide open with a huge six run production with Eddie Sepulveda, Manny Melchor, Jorge Saucedo, Aaron Trevizo, Kali Salinas, and Rolly Jimenez each scoring a run in that frame and then held on to take a 12 to 8 victory over the Pacific Northwest Regional champion with Rolly Jimenez earning the pitching victory and was also selected the Player of the Game.

The third game of pool play pitted the Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old all-stars against the Wuxi Jiangsu, China squad in a 5:00 PM contest on Saturday, August 10, 2019. The Chinese team took the early lead with a lone run in the top of the first but the proud Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15year old all-stars quickly countered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first with Omar Salazar reach on a one out single, Jarod Romero blasted an RBI triple to bring home Omar Salazar and Eddie Sepulveda connected with an RBI double to drive in Jarod Romero,

The Chinese team regained the lead with a pair of runs in the top of the third and the broke the game open with a six run outburst in the top of the fifth to take a 9 to 2 lead in this game. The Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old all-stars could only answer with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth with Aaron Trevizo and Jorge Saucedo each scoring a run in that frame but it was not enough as the Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old all-stars suffered their first loss of the tournament by the final score of 9 to 4 with Jarod Romero taking the pitching loss and teammate Rolly Jimenez selected the Player of the game.

In their fourth and final game of pool play, the Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old all-stars squared off against the tournament’s host team from Bismarck, North Dakota who greatly benefitted from playing on their own home field and seemingly received some home cooking from the men in blue. Bismarck, North Dakota took the early lead with a lone run in the bottom of the first but the Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old all-stars tied the game with a lone run in the top of the third with Omar Salazar stroking a two out double, Jarod Romero followed with an RBI double to drive in Omar Salazar,

In the bottom of the third the home standing Bismarck, North Dakota squad erupted with an 8 run outburst on only three base hits and greatly benefitted from one Eagle Pass error and five huge bases on balls as the man in blue behind the plate seemingly shrunk the strike zone. The Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old all-stars to their credit refused to give and made a valiant comeback with three runs in the top of the fifth and four runs in the top of the fourth but eventually fell just a little short as they fell by the final score of 11 to 9. Eddie Sepulveda was credited with the pitching loss and Kali Salinas was selected the Player of the Game and Jarod Romero was chosen the Honorable Mention Player of the Game.

GAME 1 Albany, Minnesota

After finishing pool play with a record of 2 wins and 2 losses, the Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old all-stars advanced to the single elimination round as the second seed from their pool. The Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old all-stars opened their single elimination round with a matchup against the Midwest Plains Regional champion from Albany, Minnesota.

Albany, Minnesota jumped out to the early lead by plating a pair of runs in the top of the first quickly countered with a lone run in the bottom of the first with Omar Salazar reaching safely on a fielder’s choice, Jarod Romero belted an RBI double to drive in Omar Salazar.

Albany, Minnesota got that run back in the top of fifth and then padded their lead with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth to take a 5 to 1 lead in this game. Lady Luck was not kind in this game as the Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old all-stars could only muster one more run in the bottom of the sixth with Jarod Romero leading off the frame with a double, with two outs Manny Melchor came through with an RBI double to bring home Jarod Romero but unfortunately could not produce any further damage and were thus eliminated from the 2019 Babe Ruth League 13-15 year old division World Series by the final score of 5 to 2. Rolly Jimenez suffered the pitching loss with Jarod Romero selected the Player of the Game and teammate Manny Melchor chosen the Honorable Mention Player of the Game.
