The playoff contending C.C. Winn Lady Mavericks varsity softball team nder the guidance of head softball coach J.J. Iracheta., and assistant coaches Tony Martinez, Johnny Hernandez, Corina Escontrias and Fred Paniagua journeyed East on Highway 90 to Castroville, Texas on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 to take on the always tough Medina Valley Lady Panthers in a key 7:00 PM district softball diamond matchup.

The home standing Lady Panthers jumped out to the early leady with a lone run in the bottom half of the first inning courtesy of an error and then extended their lead with a four run output in the bottom of the third to take a 5 to 0 lead over the Lady Mavericks.

In the top of the fourth the Lady Mavericks countered with what proved to be their only run of this game when power hitting Ariana Soto blasted a solo homerun over the left field fence but that would prove to be the only damage they would muster in this game as they were held to only two base hits in this game.

Medina Valley managed to tack on a lone run in the fifth and one more run in the sixth to come away with the 7 to 1 victory over the valiant Lady Mavericks.
