Eagles shut out

Coming off a very tough Spring Break schedule, the Eagle Pass Eagles varsity baseball squad under the guidance of head coach Reynol Mendoza returned home to tangle with the San Antonio Cornerstone Warriors in a 7:00 PM non-district baseball diamond encounter at the Eagle Pass ISD Student Activity Center Polo Moncada Baseball Field.
The visiting Cornerstone Warriors ventured into this game on a seven game losing streak while the home standing Eagles came in with a two game losing streak. The Eagles got stellar pitching performance from starting and game winning hurler Edward Mendoza who went five complete inning on the mound allowing no runs scattered two harmless base hits issued two bases on balls and struck out 11 batters as well as from reliever Sergio Lopez who tossed a scoreless sixth allowing one base hit, hit one batter and struck out two batters and Isaac Heredia who retired the side in order in the top of the seventh striking out two out of the three batters he faced to secure the 4 to 0 victory for the Eagles.
The Eagles supported by their Loyal Legion of fans broke into the scoring column with a three run output in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead for good with Rey Rey Mendoza leading off the frame with a walk, Edward Mendoza connected with a double to put runners on second and third, Braulio Rodriguez followed with a two RBI double to drive in Rey Rey Mendoza and Edward Mendoza, Victor Perry lifted a sacrifice fly to center to advance Braulio Rodriguez over to third, Orly Garza belted an RBI single to bring home Braulio Rodriguez to give the Eagles a 3 to 0 lead over the Warriors.
In the bottom of the fifth the Eagles tacked on a lone insurance run with Roly Riza drawing a walk and promptly stealing second and third respectively, with two outs, Rey Rey Mendoza stroked and RBI single to drive in Roly Riza with the fourth and final run of this game as the Eagles take the well earned 4 to 0 victory to improve their overall season record to 11 wins with 10 losses with one tie.
