The Eagle Pass Lady Eagles varsity basketball team under the guidance of head coach Ruben Besa and assistant coaches Arturo Gonzalez, Jesus Juarez and Norman had the unenviable task of hosting the powerful and highly talented District 29-6A leading Laredo United Lady Longhorns on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 in a 7:30 PM hoops encounter at the Eagle Pass ISD Student Activity Center Arena.

The visiting Lady Longhorns immediately showcased their superior speed and talent in the opening period coming red hot shooting lights out as they pretty much settled the eventual outcome of this contest taking a whopping 42 to 7 at the end of the first quarter of play enroute to a commanding 91 to 35 victory over the undersized and shorthanded roster but not without a valiant effort by the home standing Lady Eagles who were led by Paula Hernandez who led the team in scoring with 11 points while teammate Brooke Diaz contributed 8 points and once again led the Lady Eagles in the rebounding department with a team high 6 boards. Cristabel Martinez and Ashley Zamago pitched in with six points apiece in this game.
