Rey Rey Mendoza signs letter of intent

With University of Houston Cougars

Eagle pass Eagles current head baseball coach Reynol Mendoza has authorized Eagle Pass Sports Central to announce that senior two-sport standout Rey Rey Mendoza signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his scholastic and athletic career this past Thursday afternoon November,16, 2018 with the University of Houston Cougars member of the NCAA Division I American Athletic Conference under the direction of head baseball coach Tom Whitting. The Houston Cougars are ranked #21 in the nation by the NCAA. The Houston Cougars have been to 2 NCAA college world series, 4 super regional tournaments, 16 conference titles and 22 regional tournaments.

The young and talented Rey Rey Mendoza is the son of Eagle Pass Eagles head baseball coach Reynol Mendoza and Eagle Pass High School Counselor Tinna M. Mendoza. The Houston Cougars baseball problem will greatly benefit from the talent that Rey Rey Mendoza possess both as a starting pitcher and as an outfielder and will be given the opportunity to play both positions, Currently Rey Rey Mendoza is an integral part of the bi-district football champion squad as a truly stellar wide receiver who are in the midst of a playoff run getting ready to square off against the Brownsville Hanna Golden Cowboys after defeating the PSJA Bears this past Friday night by the score of 34 to 28 where Rey Rey Mendoza hauled in two touchdown pass receptions to capture the UIL Region IV Class 6A Division II bi-district title.

During his stellar high school baseball career at Eagle Pass High School Rey Rey Mendoza received interest from such prestigious college baseball programs such as Air Force Academy, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Baylor University, University of Texas-Arlington, University of Texas-San Antonio, Texas Christian University, St, Mary’s University, San Angelo State University, St, Leo’s University-Florida, Alvin Jr. College, McLennan Jr. College, San Jacinto Jr. College, Blinn Jr. College, Laredo Jr. College and Eastern Oklahoma Jr. College.
