Lady Mavericks win three @
San Marcos Spring Break Classic
Flores & Escamilla combined Ho-Hitter

The C.C. Winn Lady Mavericks varsity girls’ softball squad under the leadership of head coach J.J. Iracheta, Jr., and assistant coaches Tony Martinez, Johnny Hernandez, Corina Benavidez and Roly Salinas hit the road on Thursday, March 8, 2018 for a trip to San Marcos, Texas to compete in the three day San Marcos Spring Break Classic Softball Tourney. The Pride of Southern Maverick County played a total of six games at this tournament against some quality competition winning three of those games but just as easily could have won all six. The Lady Mavericks thus improve their overall season record to 14 wins with 7 losses.
The Lady Mavericks have one more non-district matchup this coming Monday when they journey to Pearsall, Texas to tangle with the Pearsall Lady Mavericks in a high noon encounter. On Thursday, March 15, 2018 the mighty C.C. Winn Lady Mavericks will kick-off their respective campaign for the District 29-5A softball crown with a trip to Floresville, Texas for a 2:00 PM district softball diamond encounter against the Floresville Lady Jaguars.
The Lady Mavericks used this tournament to mix and match several lineups to get quality playing time for their entire roster in preparation for the upcoming District 29-5Asoftball action just around the corner, The Lady Mavericks one-two pitching duo of Amy Flores and Angie Escamilla got in plenty of work inside the circle during the entire tournament and culminated the tourney with a combined No-Hitter against the Fairfield Lady Falcons in the their tournament finale. The Lady Mavericks defense still needs some work as well as more consistent hitting offensively especially with runners on base but the hits that they did get proved very vital in this tournament.
