Eagles Meet Champs at

Del Rio Queen City Relays

Mile Relay clinches team title

The Eagle Pass High School varsity boys and varsity girls track and field teams ventured to Del Rio, Texas on Friday, February 16, 2018 to compete in the annual Del Rio Queen City Relays. The Eagles varsity boys under the tutelage of Coach Roger Olivas came back home with the overall team title with a total score of 115points to edge out the home squad from Del Rio who scored 114 points. The Lady Eagles varsity girls under the guidance of head coach Juan Gonzalez finished in sixth place in the over all team title with a total of 52 points.

VARSITY BOYS DIVISION:

The varsity boys division turned out to be a thrilling two horse race for the overall team title that was not decided until the final race of the night when the gutsy Eagle Pass Eagles 4x400 Meter Relay squad of Osvaldo Picazo, Adrian Ramirez, Joshua Monsivais and Mando De Los Santos won the gold medal to take the title away from the home standing Rams.

The Eagles brought home two gold medals, three silver medals and four bronze medals from the Del Rio Queen City Relays. Earning the gold medals were the 4x400 Meter Relay squad and multi-sport standout Albert Guevara who crossed the finish line first in the 110 Meter High Hurdles with a time of 15.82. Garnering the silver medals were Albert Guevara in the Triple Jump with a leap of 41’ ½” and Caleb Garcia in the Discus Throw with a todd of 146’ 9”. Bringing home bronze medals were the 4x100 Meter Relay crew of Adrian Ramirez, Mando De Los Santos, Raul Lechler and Darwin Lechler with a time of 44.44, Darwin Lechler in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 11.51, the 3x20 Meter Relay squad of Osvaldo Picazo, Erik Rangel, Jacob Jimenez and Darwin Lechler with a time of 1:35.07, and Mando De Los Santos in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 51.78

VARSITY GIRLS DIVISION

The Lady Eagles brought home one gold, one silvar and one bronze medal from the Del Rio Queen City Relays Capturing the gold medal was middle distance running sensation Monica Rivera who placed first in the 800 Meter Run with a winning time of 2:19.86. Garnering the silver medal was Jenna Roiz in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 1:03.72.. Earning the bronze medals was Andrea Garcia in the 3200 Meter Run with a time of 12:37.87/
