The C.C. Winn Lady Mavericks varsity girls basketball squad under the direction of head coach Paulo Valero and assistant coaches Federico Paniagua, Julio Cumpian and Tonya Rosas hit the road once again on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 venturing to Carrizo Springs, Texas for a 7:00 PM non-district hoops matchup against the home standing Carrizo Springs Lady Wildcats.

The visiting Lady Mavericks broke out to the early lead in this contest with Silvy Salazar lighting up the score board for a personal season high 19 points in this game.  Teammates Arleth Herrera, Kim Rodriguez and Karyme Marquez pitched in with timely three-point baskets.

Defensively Ashley Cruz and Arleth Herrera made two back to back critical stops with time winding down in this game that forced a key turnover and a bad shot attempt by the Lady Wildcats.  Destiny Sukue and Silvy Salazar combined their talents to tally 13 points in the fourth period with Silvy Salazar connecting vital points from the charity stripe to preserve the 50 to 44 victory for the Lady Mavericks who improve their overall season record to 8 wins and 8 losses but are riding a three game winning streak.

The Lady Mavericks converted 12 out of 20 free throw attempts in this game including a clutch7out 9 in the fourth period.  The Lady Mavericks return to the hard court this coming Friday, December 22, 2017 where they will host the La Pryor Lady Bulldogs in a 5:00 PM non-district basketball encounter at the Eagle Pass ISD Student Activity Center Arena.
