The Eagle Pass Eagles varsity boys’ cagers mentored by head coach Ernesto Reyes and assistant coaches Julian Caballero, Danny Flores and David Even ventured to the Alamo City of San Antonio, Texas to tipoff against San Antonio Veterans Memorial Patriots in a 6:30 PM non-district hoops encounter.

The visiting Eagle Pass Eagles took advantage of a well balanced offensive game plan getting scoring production from their entire starting lineup scoring from inside and outside the paint with short and long range jumpers as well as layups by moving the ball around seeking the wide open shot.

Equally impressive was the Eagles quick and suffocating defense who contested every shot by the San Antonio Veterans Memorial Patriots and forced several key turnovers that the mighty Eagles were ble to convert into points.

Holding a slim one point heading into the fourth and final quarter, the Eagles’ offense picked up the tempo and managed to outscore the Patriots 22 to 17 in that final period to come away with the well earned 68 to 62 victory.  The victorious Eagles were led by high point man David Moreno who poured in a team high 24 points followed by Jesse Juarez who drained in 18 points and fellow teammate Armando Villegas contributed 14 points.  Bryan Esquivel led the squad in the rebounding department with 11 boards.
