The C.C. Following report courtesy of head coach Paulo Valero:
Coming into out 4th road gamein a row without starters Ashley Cruz and Gyselle Rangel (combined 20 pts. per game avg.) we came out slow. Poteet came out hot hitting the first two 3 pointers and making lay up after lay up for an early 21 to 12 lead.
Our defense led by Silvy Salazar and Andrea Aldape picked up the pace in the 2nd quarter holding Poteet to 1 Field goal made in the second quarter while getting contributions on offense from Ana Lopez and Kimberly Rodriguez. We went into the locker room tied at 24 after a 12 to 5 run in the 2nd quarter.
In the 3rd our defense continued to dominate settling in at the half court level switching between zones not allowing them to adjust. We held them to one field goal once again in the third while getting a timely corner 3 from Bri Ibarra allowing Winn to take a 3 point lead into the final quarter.
In the 4th our stamina and conditioning plus important free throws allowed us to finish the game on a positive note. Silvy Salazar had a huge and one play allowing us to grab a 4 poit lead while Destiny Sukue dished it out to Ana Lopez to secure the victory with under a minute left.
Player of the game was Ana Lopez
