The Eagle Pass High School Eagles varsity boys and Lady Eagles varsity girls cross country teams mentored by head coach Juan Gonzalez ventured to the Rio Grande Valley on Saturday, September 2, 2017 to compete in the Annual Donna North Invitational Cross Country Meet.

The highly touted Eagle Pass Lady Eagles varsity girls continued to showcase their talent as they captured the overall team championship with a total of 34 points.  The Lady Eagles placed three individual runners I the top 10 spearheaded by standout Monica Rivera who was the meet individual champion crossing the finish line in first place with a winning time of 19:36 followed by young stellar Shanya Luna who came in third individually with a time of 19:47and teammate Andrea Garcia who placed 10^th individually with a time of 20:51, Jackeline Garcia came in 14^th with a time of 21:17, Ana Cristina Alvarez placed 15^th with a time of 21:28, Karina Fernandez came in 16t with a time of 21:30, Jenna Roiz placed 22^nd with a time of 21:411 and teammate Briana Vasquez rounded up the squad coming in 32^nd with a time of 22:31.

The Eagle Pass Eagles varsity boys finished 8^th in the overall team competition with a total of 153 points.  The Eagles were paced by standout Nathan Kowalski who finished 6^th individually with a time of 16:10, Sergio Hernandez came in 9^th individually with a time of 16:30, Homar Perez placed 50^th with a time of17:56, Jose Lugo was next in 52^nd place with a time of 17:57, Ryan Rodriguez followed in 53^rd place with a time of 17:57, Sebastian Villarreal came in 65^th with a time of 18:23, George Sanchez crossed the finish line in 74^th place with a time of 18:51 and Hector Marines rounded up the squad in 78^th place with a time of 18:59.

The Eagle Pass Eagles and Lady Eagles will now be hosting the 12^th Annual Border Bash Invitational Cross Country Meet this coming Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the City of Eagle Pass, Texas Municipal Golf Course.  First race starts at 8:00 am sharp.
