All-District Selections

Mario Galvan – Newcomer of the Year

With all four of the District 29-5A baseball representatives having been eliminated from the post season playoffs, Eagle Pass Sports Central has been authorized by C.C. Winn Mavericks head coach Gene Flores to announce the 2017 District 29-5A all-district baseball selections as voted on by the respective district head softball coaches during their annual post regular season meeting held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017.

A total of 12 Mavericks varsity baseball players were selected to the all-district squad.  Spearheading the C.C. Winn Mavericks’ selections was sophomore catcher Mario Galvan who was voted the District 29-5A’s Newcomer of the Year.  Voted to the elite first team all-district squad were senior pitcher Rey Lopez, junior first baseman Ernesto Villasenor, senior second baseman Ruben Esquivel, senior shortstop Julio Ruiz and junior designated hitter Gustavo Cabrera.  Earning a berth on the all-district second team were senior third baseman Mike Hernandez and sophomore outfielder Brandon Villasenor.  Garnering a spot on the honorable mention team were outfielder Manuel Hernandez, outfielder Erik Lopez, outfielder/pitcher Francisco Ballones and infielder Jorge Romero.  Garnering a berth on the prestigious all-academic team were outfielder Erik Lopez and outfielder Jose Solano
