The mighty Eagle Pass Eagles varsity football team mentored by head football coach Tom Gonzalez ventured to the heart of the Rio Grande Valley on Friday, November 16, 2018 to kick off their respective postseason with a 7:00 PM gridiron encounter against the PSJA Bears for the UIL Region IV Division II Class 6A bi-district title at the PSJA football stadium located on 601 Kelly St. in Pharr, Texas. The visiting Eagle Pass Eagles entered this matchup with an overall season record of 8-2 while the home standing Bears came in sporting an overall season record of 7-3.

Eagle pass Eagles current head baseball coach Reynol Mendoza has authorized Eagle Pass Sports Central to announce that senior two-sport standout Rey Rey Mendoza signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his scholastic and athletic career this past Thursday afternoon November,16, 2018 with the University of Houston Cougars member of the NCAA Division I American Athletic Conference under the direction of head baseball coach Tom Whitting. The Houston Cougars are ranked #21 in the nation by the NCAA. The Houston Cougars have been to 2 NCAA college world series, 4 super regional tournaments, 16 conference titles and 22 regional tournaments.

The mighty Eagle Pass Eagles varsity football team mentored by head football coach Tom Gonzalez ventured to the heart of the Rio Grande Valley on Friday, November 16, 2018 to kick off their respective postseason with a 7:00 PM gridiron encounter against the PSJA Bears for the UIL Region IV Division II Class 6A bi-district title at the PSJA football stadium located on 601 Kelly St. in Pharr, Texas. The visiting Eagle Pass Eagles entered this matchup with an overall season record of 8-2 while the home standing Bears came in sporting an overall season record of 7-3. The mighty Eagle Pass Eagles defeated the PSJA Bears 34 to 28 in a thrilling overtime victory behind a well balanced running and passing offensive exhibition along with the Eagles fast and aggressive defense stepping up big against a very potent offensive squad to capture the bi-district championship thus advancing to the UIL Region IV Class 6A area round where they face-off against the winner of the Brownsville Hanna vs. Weslaco East game with date, site and time yet to be determined. The playoff bound Eagle Pass Eagles varsity football team under the guidance of head football coach Tom Gonzalez resumed their district gridiron battles on Friday, November 9, 2018 in a key 7:30 PM District 29-6A regular season and district football game finale against their longest and oldest rival the Del Rio Rams at the Eagle Pass ISD Student Activity Center Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium.. This game was also been designated as the Eagle Pass High School 2018 Homecoming Game with the coronation of the King and Queen and the Royal Court taking place during the halftime festivities. The visiting Del Rio Rams entered this game with an overall season record of 2-3 and a district mark of 2-3. The home standing Eagle Pass Eagles came in sporting an overall season record of 7-2 and a district mark of 3-2. The Eagle Pass Eagles-Del Rio Rams football series originated back in 1920 when Del Rio was then known as the Wildcats.

The Mavericks have the opportunity to knock off the district champs who will enter this game with an overall season record of 8-1 and an unblemished district mark of 5-0. The visiting Mavericks will venture into this contest sporting an overall season mark of 6-3 and a district record of 3-2. At stake is a potential post season playoff berth for the Mavericks who will need either a victory over the Dragons or a Harlandale Indians loss at the hands of the McCollum Cowboys to secure a playoff berth.
