Former Eagle Pass Lady Eagles District 29-6A Most Valuable Player and pitching sensation Krystal De La Cruz is the consummate team player and a true role model for the youth of our community. She the winningest pitcher in the 26 year storied history of the Eagle Pass Lady Eagles softball program and also the only Lady Eagles pitcher to ever record 30 pitching victories in a single season. Krystal continued to excel inside the circle as a senior hurler for the NCAA Division I Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters and just finished a truly brilliant softball pitching career at the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional Tournament held this weekend.

The southpaw flame throwing Krystal De La Cruz who earned the tournament clinching victory in the Conference USA Softball Tournament held recently in Birmingham, Alabama allowing just one run on three hits in the 3 to 1 victory over the Marshall University Herd in the Conference USA Tournament title game to improve her 2019 pitching record to a phenomenal 17-3 mark with a 2.11 Earned Run Average. For her outstanding pitching performance Krystal was selected to the Conference USA All-Tournament team.

The Conference USA Tournament championship title earned the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters a berth in the 2019 NCAA Softball Tournament where they competed in the Baton Rouge Regional Tournament against the likes of Louisiana State University Lady Tigers, Texas Tech University Lady Red Raiders and Monmouth University Lady Hawks. The Lady Techsters under the direction of head coach Mark Montgomery, associate head coach Emerald Doria, assistant coach Bianca Duran, assistant coach Mike Forsythe and graduate manager Brooke Morales opened the Baton Rouge Regional Tourney on Friday, May 17, 2019 with a 2:00 PM matchup against the Texas Tech Lady Red Raiders where the Lady Techsters barely lost by the score of 3 to 0.

In the second game of the tournament on Saturday the Lady Techsters faced off against the Monmouth University Lady Hawks where Krystal De La Cruz started the game tossing four scoreless innings with five strikeouts in a 1 to 0 victory over the Lady Hawks and got a no decision.

In the tournament elimination game on Sunday against the Texas Tech Lady Red Raiders, Krystal Del La Cruz started the game got another no decision with four solid innings allowing just one run and scattered four harmless hits in a 3 to 1 loss. Krystal De La Cruz culminates her senior season with the Lady Techsters with a sensational pitching record of 17 wins with only 3 losses and an outstanding E.R.A. of 2.11 and the opposing hitters could only manage a measly combined .223 batting average against her stingy pitching arm

Eagle Pass Sports Central would like to congratulate the highly talented Krystal De La Cruz on a truly magnificent high school and collegiate pitching career and we thank you for the countless number of thrills and memories that you provided inside the circle and for being a great Ambassador of Goodwill for the entire Community of Eagle Pass, Texas and we certainly wish you the very best of luck in all of your future endeavors. Way to Go Krystal!
