The mighty C.C. Winn Lady Mavericks varsity girls’ softball squad under the tutelage of head coach J.J. Iracheta, Jr. and assistant coaches Tony Martinez, Johnny Hernandez, Corina Escontrias and Fred Paniagua hosted the current District 28-5A leading Medina Valley Lady Panthers in a key 5:00 PM district softball diamond matchup at the Eagle Pass ISD Student Activity Center softball field with the famed Maverick Nation in attendance ready to cheer and support their beloved Lady Mavericks.

The visiting Lady Panthers took the early lead in this game taking full advantage of a missed played fly ball that turned into an RBI double and prolonged the inning which resulted in a four run out put highlighted by a two run homerun by the Medina Valley second baseman. The Lady Panthers extended their lead with a pair of runs in the top half of the fourth inning including a solo homerun off the bat of the Lady Panthers second baseman.

The proud Lady Mavericks answered with a pair of runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth with the Soto twins Ariana and Briana scoring on an error but unfortunately that proved to be the only damage the Lady Mavericks would muster in this game as they were held to a season low of only two runs on two hits.

The district leading Medina Valley Lady Panthers tacked on an insurance run in the top of the seventh to come away with the 7 to 2 victory over the valiant Lady Mavericks whose overall season record now stands at 13 wins with 4 losses and their district mark now stands at 3-2.
