Iracheta, Jr., and assistant coaches Tony Martinez, Johnny Hernandez, Corina Benavidez and Roly Salinas currently perched in third place in the district race with a district record of 2-1 entertained the winless Southside Lady Cardinals sporting a district mark of 0-3 on Monday, March 26, 2018 in a 7:00 PM District 29-5A softball diamond matchup at the Eagle Pass ISD Student Activity Center.

After two scoreless innings of play, the visiting Southside Lady Cardinals took the lead in this game by plating three runs in the top half of the third inning courtesy of 4 base hits a walk and a fielder’s choice and could have very well tacked on another run but Lady Mavericks catcher Briana Soto showcased her Golden arm by throwing out a runner at third but the Lady Cardinals managed to take a 3 to 0 lead over the Lady Mavericks.

That proved to be more than enough lead for relief hurler Angie Escamilla who took over the pitching chores from starting pitcher Amy Flores in the top of the fourth and was simply dominant inside the circle. The home standing Lady Mavericks supported by the famed Mavericks Nation tacked on a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth with Martha Garcia leading off the frame with a single, Daniela Rodriguez connected with a fence rattling RBI triple to bring home Martha Garcia, with one out Briana Soto grounded out to short enabling Daniela Rodriguez to come home on the play to give the Mavericks an 8 to 3 lead over the Lady Cardinals.

; The mighty Lady Mavericks closed out the scoring for the night with another pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth with pinch hitter Kaytilyn Amaya stroking a leadoff double, with two outs Ariana Soto blasted and RBI double to drive in Kaytilyn Amaya, Brian Soto followed with a ringing RBI double to bring home twin sister Ariana Soto to give the Lady Mavericks a comfortable 10 to3 lead in this game.
