The Eagle Pass Lady Eagles varsity girls] softball team journeyed to Laredo, Texas on Friday, March 9, 2017 to square off against the home standing Laredo United South Lady Panthers in a 5:30 PM District 29-6A softball diamond encounter at the United ISD Student Activity Center. The visiting Lady Eagles put on a scoring and hitting exhibition coupled with some stingy pitching performance by standout hurler Kaitlin Galvan to come away with the lopsided 17 to 0 victory over the Lady Panthers. The Lady Eagles hitting assault was led by their top hitter and RBI producer Brooke Diaz as well as Heather Ruiz.

The visiting Lady Eagles opened the scoring in this game with a lone run in the top of the first inning with leadoff batter Heather Ruiz belting a single and then advancing to second on an error, with two outs power hitting stellar catcher Brooke Diaz connected with an RBI single to drive in Heather Ruiz with the first run of the game.

In the top of the third the Lady Eagles extended their lead with a big five run output. Dependable left fielder Kayla Ochoa led off the frame with a single, Heather Ruiz followed with a double to put runners on second and third, Leslie Martinez followed with a ringing two RBI triple to bring home Kayla Ochoa and Heather Ruiz, Alexandra Martinez singled to bring home Leslie Martinez, Brooke Diaz belted a single to keep the rally going, with two outs Kaylynne Ruiz stroked a single, Lorelei Morales connected with a solid RBI double to drive in Kaylynne Ruiz and Morales would later tally to give the Lady Eagles a 6 to 0 lead over the Lady Panthers.

That lead proved to be more than enough for starting and eventual game winning pitcher Kaitlin Galvan who was dominant inside the circle in this game hurling a five inning shutout and surrendered just four harmless base hits and faced only 16 batters to earn the victory.

In the top of the fourth the heavy hitting Lady Eagles out this game out of reach with a huge seven run production and for good measure tacked on four more runs in the top of the fifth to come away with the final score of 17 to 0 enforcing the dreaded 10run rule over the Lady Panthers.
