Coming off a heartbreaking and stunning loss at the hands of the Laredo Alexander Lady Bulldogs in their district opener this past Tuesday night, the Eagle Pass Lady Eagles varsity girls softball team ventured to Laredo, Texas on Friday, March 2, 2018 to continue district softball diamond action with a 7:00 PM District 29-6A matchup against the Laredo LBJ Lady Wolves at the United ISD Student Activity Center.

The visiting Eagle Pass Lady Eagles showcased their usually potent lineup immediately in this game with a lone run in the top half of the first inning with Heather Ruiz belting a one out triple, Brooke Diaz one of the leading RBI producing hitters in the district as well as in Region IV came through with an RBI sacrifice fly to centerfield to drive in what proved to eventually be the winning run as that would prove to be the only run that Lady Eagles standout fire balling hurler Kaitlin Galvan would need as she was simply unhittable inside the circle on this night as she only faced 16 batters in this game hurling a no-hitter allowing just one batter to reach base on the night and that came on a hit by pitch which prevented her from tossing a perfect game. Katie allowed no hits and only two batters managed to get the ball out into the outfield for harmless fly outs the other 13 outs were infield outs.

In the top of the second the Lady Eagles padded their lead with a three run out put with Kaylynne Ruiz leading off the frame with a walk, with one out Lee Ann Dunn came through with an RBI double to drive in Kaylynne Ruiz, Emily Snyder connected with an RBI single to bring home Lee Ann Dunn, with two outs Leslie Martinez stroked an RBI single to drive in Emily Snyder to give the Lady Eagles a 4 to 0>

The Lady Eagles then proceeded to blow this game wide open in the top of the third erupting with a huge 10 run production on 9 base hits and a pair of walks highlighted by Brooke Diaz’s bases loaded three RBI fence rattling triple to give the Lady Eagles and insurmountable 14 to 0 lead over the young Lady Wolves and then managed to tack on a lone run in the top of the fifth inning with Alexandra Martinez leading off the frame with a single, Kaylynne Ruiz also followed with a single, with two outs Emily Snyder connected with a solid RBI to drive in Alexandra Martinez with the 15th and final run of this game.

Kaitlin Galvan then managed to retire the side in order in the home half of the 5th inning on a ground out to second and a pair of comebackers to give the Eagle Pass Lady Eagles a lopsided 15to 0 no-hit victory over the young bur feisty Laredo LBJ Lady Wolves.
