Champions @ Uvalde Coyote Relays

The Eagle Pass Eagles and Eagle Pass Lady Eagles varsity boys and girls track and field squads ventured to Uvalde, Texas on Saturday, February 24, 2018 to compete in the 53rd Annual Uvalde Coyote Relays at the famed Honey Bowl. Both the highly talented young Lady Eagles mentored by head coach Juan Gonzalez and the equally talented Eagles under the tutelage of head coach Roger Olivas brought the Meet overall team championship tiles with the Lady Eagles amassing a total of 107 points and the Eagles amassing a total of 137 points.

VARSITY GIRLS DIVISION:

The Meet champion Eagle Pass Lady Eagles brought home three gold medals, five silver medals and 2 bronze medals. Earning the gold medals were Monica Rivera who was a double gold medal winner capturing the 400 Meter Dash crown with a winning time of 60.97 as well as the 1600 Meter title with a winning time of 5:30.39, also winning gold was Jackeline Garza in the grueling 3200 Meter Run with a time of 12:19.84.

Earning silver medals were Brianna Vasquez in the 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 51.84, Andrea Garcia in the 3200 Meter Run with a time of 12:36.00, Karina Fernandez in the 400 Meter Dash with a tie of 64.53, the 4x 200Meter Relay crew of Erika Lopez, McKayla Hernandez, Brianna Vasquez and Adrianna Moody with a timeof 1:54.7 and the 4x400 Meter Relay quartet of Erika Lopez, Karina Fernandez, Briana Vasquez and anchored by Monica Rivera with a time of 4:18,13. Bringing home bronze medals were Natali Gallardo in the Shot Put with a heave of 31’ 5”, and Ana Cristina Alvarez in the 3200 Meter Run with a time of 12:38.00.

VARSITY BOYS DIVISION:

The Meet champion Eagle Pass Eagles brought home three gold medals, five silver medals and four bronze medals. Earning gold medals were Nathan Kowalski in the 3200 Meter Run with a winning time of 9:51.00, the 4x100Meter Relay squad of Adrian Ramirez, Mando De Los Santos, Raul Lechler and anchored by Darwin Lechler with a time of 42.95 and Albert Guevara in the 110 Meter High Hurdles with a time of 15.25.

Earning silver medals were Darwin Lechler in the 100Meter Dash with a time of 11.26, the 4x200 Meter Realy squad of Osvaldo Picazo, Erik Rangel, Jacob Jimenez, and Darwin Lechler with a time of 1:34.06, Mando De Los Santos in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 51.47, the 4x400 Meter Relay quartet of Osvaldo Picazo, Adrian Ramirez, Joshua Monsivais, Mando De Los Santos with a time of 3:30.08 and Ralph Guerrero in the Pole Vault at a height of 9’ 8”. Garnering bronze medals were Sergio Hernandez in the 3200 Meter Run with a time of 9:59.00 and Albert Guevara in the 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 42.34.
